Hello parents, students, and coworkers. I am an educator of 15 years and I absolutely LOVE teaching. While this job is challenging and often undervalued, I know that the work I do is important to the communities that I serve so I always do my best. My students respect me because I am honest and kind. They are sometimes frustrated with me because I do enforce my classroom rules and have lots of procedures to ensure a safe and conducive classroom climate.
I am a parent of 4 children in a blended and bilingual family. I love my family and they are a huge part of my life. I also love music, art, and science. I love to play music in my class and allow my students to help create a classroom playlist to share appropriate music that we can all enjoy. I am a member of several Arts organizations in our area including Black Creatives Circle of North Louisiana, The Twin City Arts Council, and The Masur Museum of Art. I often host free art workshops for local nonprofit organizations, friends, and family. Most importantly, I am a dedicated member of my bible class and I know that the trust I have in my higher power has brought peace and positive people into my life. The compassion I have been shown in life is why I am kind and compassionate to my students. I show my students, by example, how to understand their own weaknesses and strengths; I model how to ask for help and how to offer it when you can.
