Description:
- The Basic Study Skills class is a secondary level course for students working on a high school diploma whether by way of TOPS or Jumpstart AND upon successful completion of this class, each student receives an elective credit (unless the student audits this class or misses too many unexcused class periods).
- The AA Social Studies class is a secondary core level course for students working on a high school Career Diploma.
- Each student receives instruction based on his/her IEP.
Objectives:
- Organize daily materials for ALL classes.
- BSS - Receive instruction on effective study skills to be successful in all classes.
- BSS - Receive instruction on the use of note taking, outlining, use of graphic materials, and use of references.
- BSS - Receive instruction, take tests, and receive accommodations in a small group setting.
- AA SS - Receive instruction on American History.
- Complete assignments, prepare for tests, and meet individual course goals.
- Daily preparation for passing the End of Semester and End of Course exams. Meet the objectives of your regular ed classes.
Expectations:
- Arrive on time.
- Be prepared for class.
- Maintain a good attendance record.
- Show respect and follow all class and school rules.
- Have a great, successful school year!
SUPPLIES:
- Pencil, blue or black ink pen, and a highlighter. When needed, a folder or binder is provided for each student for this class.
- Each student must have his/her own personal WIRED earbuds. (NO wireless.)
- BSS II students, please bring a box of Kleenex.
- AA Social Studies students, please bring a roll of paper towels. Also, please bring crayons or colored pencils with your name on them.
- BSS IV students, please bring a box of Kleenex OR a roll of paper towels.
- #2 pencils are always appreciated!
Other Information:
- On most days, students will be given an assignment in this class.
- I will also assist students with tests and assignments from other classes.
