Writer's Checklist

 

 

 

1. Look at the ideas in your response.

• did you use a topic sentence?
• have your used enough details to explain yourself?
• have you put your thoughts in order?
• can others understand what you are saying?
• did you end with a conclusion sentence?

2. Think about what you want others to know and feel

• will others understand how you think or feel about the topic?
• will others feel angry, sad, happy, surprised?
• do you have sentences of different lengths?
• are your sentences alike?

3. look at the words you have used.

• have you described things, places, and people with enough detial
• are you the same person all the way through your writing?
• have you used the right words in the right places? 

4. look at your handwriting.

• can others read your handwriting with no trouble?
• Did you capitalize and use puncuation marks? 
• Are there spaces between your words?
