Welcome to Our Class Webpage! 

 

 

 

 

 

      I'm excited about the opportunity to get to know you. Our objective for this year is to make it the best yet! So, gear up for a fantastic year! I would like to introduce my self and express just how excited I am to be working with your child this yera! My name is Amber Cornelius (soon to be Amber Laviolette). My fiance and I have a giant, fur baby named, Miah.  I obtained my bachelors in Special Education (1-5) Mild/Moderate Disabilities and Regular Education (1-5) at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2015, and have been teaching resource at Frost School since 2019.  I'm looking forward to having a great time teaching and learning with your child this school year. If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to schedule a conference or volunteer to help out, you can contact me at [email protected]. I normally check my email before school and before school is dismissed.

Some ways students gets a point or clips up:
  • go the extra mile to help a student or teacher in need.
  • are the first or second to do what I ask.
  • are extra polite and respectful.
  • do amazingly good work.
Some ways students loses a point or clips down:
  • interrupt me when I'm teaching.
  • are disrespectful to another student or adult.
  • cannot sit still or purposely keep another student from learning.
  • do not follow the rules in the classroom as well as out of the classroom.
   The children quickly realize how to behave appropriately in all kinds of situations. To make it to 10 points or to the top of the chart (or beyond) means so much to them because they see how proud I am of them. They are six feet tall when they get a point or asked to clip up.
 
If your child ends the day with a -1 point or on "Oops, I made a mistake"  this is a warning. They will get one conduct mark for the day.

If your child ends the day with a -2 points or on "Think about it," they will have to sit out for recess. They will get two conduct marks for the day.

If your child ends the day with a -3 points or on "Parent Contact," they will miss two days of recess and I will write a note or call you to explain your child's behavior and what rules were broken as well as the actions taken to solve the problem.

 

 Severe Clause

Any child can be sent directly to the office if s/he displays severe behavior.  Any behavior deemed unsafe or which interferes with my teaching or with any student’s right to learn will not be tolerated.

Classroom rules:

 

  1. Follow directions quickly. 
  2. Raise your hand to speak.
  3. Be a teammate.
  4. Respect others.
