My name is Mrs. Lisa Burns and I will be your child's 2nd Grade teacher this year at OFRS. I am excited to be teaching a new grade, and look forward to learning and growing alongside your child! I have lived in Long Valley since 1994, and both of my daughters completed all of their schooling in Long Valley.

A little bit about myself:

I grew up in Chester and graduated from West Morris Mendham High School, where I met my husband. We have been married for 32 years, and have lived in Long Valley for 30 of those. We have two daughters: Felicia is 26, lives in Morristown with her boyfriend Brandon, and is the Retail Manager at Stony Hill Farms in Chester. Skylar is 24, married, and lives in West Virginia with her husband Noah. In addition, we have a dog named Maverick, and two cats, Juju and Schnitzel.

I graduated from The College of New Jersey with my degree in Education and English, and taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in Jersey City for 6 years before our oldest daughter was born. I chose to stay home with our girls for a few years, but became the Director of Family Ministries at our church (CPC in Chester), a position I held for 14 years. I have been part of the Washington Township School district for 10 years now, in a variety of positions. I have been an Aide, and have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, was a Kindergarten and 1st Grade SLLD teacher, and now I am teaching 2nd grade. I also have my Teacher of  Students with Disabilities certification and my Master of Arts in Special Education from Centenary University.

In addition to my school responsibilities, I work at Stony Hill Farms during the Fall Maze Season under the Tent, and in the tasting room at Rebel Sheep Wine Co., so be sure to come say hi! to me (free ice cream to students who come see me). I love the beach (anywhere there is sand and the ocean), sea turtles, shelling, butterflies (especially Monarchs), reading books, and spending time with my family.

I am beyond ecstatic to be working with the children at OFRS this year, and I am excited to explore all of the ways that we can learn and grow as we navigate this new school year. I truly love what I do and am so proud of everything our students can accomplish! I'm looking forward to a great start to our time together.
