Summer Work Ideas:
-
READ! READ! READ!
-
Practice reading and answering questions or having discussions about what you learned.
-
Maybe consider joining (or starting your own!) a book club for support with friends or reading at home with family.
-
Watch Hamilton. There is an online movie that you should be able to view. This is a great opportunity to learn about some of the material that you will be learning about in US history in 7th & 8th grades.
-
Next year there will be a lot of independent work. Practice pacing yourself with completing tasks and activities within certain time frames and practice seeking help or assistance when you need it. You can do this with anything at home- even with chores!
-
WRITE! Keep a journal or consider an online blog. You can write about your summer break, vacation, what you do each day etc. Get creative!
-
Volunteer! Find a good cause that you can become passionate about. Plus it will make you feel good too! This will help build team working skills, leadership, independence, confidence and public speaking skills. You could even volunteer to have a reading session geared towards younger kids at the Library.
-
Keep up with current events. You can read and learn about what is going on in the world around you. There are many online resources that you can use. Find one you like and tap in weekly - or even daily! Talk about it with your family.
-
Take up a hobby! Research it and learn about it. It can be ANYTHING! Gardening, sewing, photography, swimming, geocaching. Hone in on a skill and read up about it. Practice and share what you have learned.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY- Have fun!
