Grading Policy
Participation
A large portion of class will be based on participation. Students may feel some activities are outside of their comfort zone, but they must try. Students will not be penalized for trying an activity—no matter how good/bad they think they are at it. For those who refuse to try, participation grades will be affected.
Written Work
Students will be given written work at times throughout the year. Most often, written work will be completed together as we learn new material. At any time, written work may be checked and graded for completion or accuracy.
Tests
Students will be tested on knowledge we have covered in class. Tests may be written or performance-based, such as demonstrating a skill on the recorder.
Periodically, students will be asked to complete work at home. Work will checked for completion and/or accuracy.
**Note: During the music unit, students will be expected to practice the recorder for a minimum of 10 minutes each night.
