Summer Skills Practice

Don’t get stuck on the summer slide!

Keep your math skills fresh by working on the following math practice skills on your IXL.com account. These identified skills will be reviewed in class in September.

 

What to do…

  • Log onto your IXL account and make sure your name listed on the top of the screen
  • Click onto the 6th grade math tab if you are not already on that page
  • Complete the skills listed below to 80% or higher!  (The skills will also be highlighted on the 6th grade IXL math skills menu)

 

Optional Skills to practice…(Be sure you are on 6th Grade Math skills)

  • A.7  Add & Subtract whole numbers: word problems
  • B.3  Multiply whole numbers with four or more digits
  • B.4  Multiply numbers ending in zeroes
  • C.5  Divide whole numbers – 2 digit divisors
  • G.1  Add and subtract decimal numbers
  • G.2  Add and subtract decimals:  work problems
  •  I.4  Equivalent fractions review
  • U.3  Add and subtract money amounts: word problems
  • U.5  Multiply money: word problems
  • U.7  Divide money amounts: word problems

 

Other math activities for good practice (optional):

Look for math around you & record your weekly findings in a math journal, create a treat by following a recipe to practice measurement, record how many miles you walk, track the increase and decrease in temperature from day to day, draw a picture on graph paper and calculate its area, keep a log of money spent and saved over the summer, or any other creative idea you have involving math.
