Policies and Procedures

 

Student Responsibilities:

  • All students are expected to attend class regularly (either in person or online) 
  • All students are expected to be respectful towards themselves, their classmates, their teachers, and all materials
  • All students are expected to put forth effort and always try their best
  • All students are expected to come to class with all materials needed (inlcuding, but not limited to: covered math notebook, sharpened pencils, red pen, dry erase marker, planner, completed homework/list of questions to ask)
  • All students are expected to pay attention, participate in class, and add to class discussion
  • If working digitally, all students are expected to follow the online etiquette standards
  • All students are expected to take complete notes and keep an organized math notebook

 

 

Student Homework Responsibilities:

Homework will be assigned as an extension of the lesson that was taught in class and can be considered preparation for the next day's lesson.  Homework provides an opportunity for students to practice math skills, prepare for future lessons, and helps develop strong work habits.  It is expected that students do their best on all homework assignments.  

  • All homework is to be recorded daily in a student planner
  • All homework should be done neatly and completely
  • All homework should be written out and have attached work to explain how answers were found
  • All homework answers should be original and should only contain the work of the student
  • All questions should be attempted and should be evident of student effort
  • Homework will be checked each day.  Missed or incomplete assignments will be recorded and reassigned
  • Homework and participation will account for 20% of marking period averages

 

 

Grading

Tests = 50%

Quizzes/Graded Classwork= 30%

Homework/Participation = 20%

 

All tests will be announced.  Quizzes and graded classwork may or may not be announced.  Homework will be assigned regularly.  Participation in class discussion, group tasks & assignments is strongly encouraged.  

 

Talking or communicating with others in any way during assessments may result in point deductions or removal of test papers. Parents will be notified.

 

All grades will be posted weekly on Genesis.  Please contact me immediately if you believe a mistake has been made in the recording of grades on the website.   Please notify the office if you have questions regarding use of the Genesis website.

 

Extra Help

Extra help is available weekly, however this year's scheduled day & time have not yet been determined. Once determined, and if your child is able to stay, please send a note or e-mail giving permission for your child to stay after school for extra help each week and indicating dismissal arrangements.
