2024-2025

Welcome to a new year at Memorial High School!

My name is Maria D. Sanchez and I delighted to have you in my class. Chemistry is the study of matter and energy. It is everywhere around you – cleaning products,  plastic bags, bottles, and even a comfortable seat cushion are all the examples of Chemistry. This class may be intensive and challenging, but I aim to make it easy for you to understand and fun for you to learn.

The topics that we will cover range from understanding  atoms to learning how molecules react with each other. You will perform multiple inquiry-based laboratory activities to help you understand the materials. In addition, discussion of the contemporary scientific issues will be part of our curriculum to engage you in the outside world and to improve your critical thinking skills.

In order to succeed in my class, I am asking you to finish assignments on time. I encourage you to ask questions in class and outside of class. I also recommend you to read your textbook before each lesson and to attend the after-school tutoring sessions. Always feel free to contact me with any concerns. You are welcome to set up a meeting with me if you want to discuss your academic performance.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sanchez
