Course Description:
The Intro to Video History & Production course will provide students with a basic understanding of the history and technology behind video as an information medium, and some of the ways in which it is created to achieve its desired effect on an audience. The historical foundations of the film and television industries will be covered. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a variety of production skills and techniques as it relates to producing a variety of video formats including, film, television and online video.
Course Objective:
Students will learn skills in story design, script writing, video editing, and studio production along with the roots of all video mediums. In order to meet assignment deadlines and production schedules, students will need to rely on good time management, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team setting.
Topics to be covered:
-History and current information on film and television
-Pre-production, production, and post production of film and television; including Script writing; Storyboarding; Camera Operation; and Video and Audio Editing
-Roles of a production crew (if time allows)

Grading System:
50% Projects/Test Grades
20% Midterm & Final Exam
10% Quizzes
10% Participation/Attendance
10% Classwork/Homework
Expectations and Classroom Rules:
It is MANDATORY all students come prepared each day with a notebook and their OWN writing utensil. If they are not present a deduction will be made from class participation. Just about every Friday or last day of the school week, there will be a Do Now check or collection that will count as a quiz grade. Notes must be updated and organized for open note quizzes, tests, & exams.
-Students must use the hall pass to be excused from class with permission
-Students must get my permission and sign out equipment before using it
-Students must have a Video Production pass if working on a video project in the halls
-Do not interrupt other classrooms while in the hallways. You will lose hallway privilege.
-Students will remain seated or working until the bell rings. DO NOT line up at the door
