Course Description:
The Video Production course will provide students with an intermediate understanding of the technology behind video as an information medium, and some of the ways in which it is created to achieve its desired effect on an audience. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a variety of production skills and techniques as it relates to producing a variety of video formats
Course Objective:
Students will learn skills in story design, storyboarding, script writing, video editing, and studio production. In order to meet assignment deadlines and production schedules, students will need to rely on good time management, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team setting.
Topics to be covered:
-Roles of a studio production crew
-How news programming is produced in a television studio setting
-Pre-production, production, and post production of film and television; including Script writing; Storyboarding; Camera Operation; and Video and Audio Editing

20% News On Deck

Expectations and Classroom Rules:
It is MANDATORY all students come prepared each day with their OWN writing utensil and proper materials for the day’s work including a folder/notebook. If they are not present a deduction may be made from class participation. Just about every Friday or last day of the school week, there will be a progress check grade that will count as a quiz grade. This will be your progress and participation in the week’s work including projects and News On Deck.
-Students must use the hall pass to be excused from class with my permission. Must sign out.
-Students must get my permission and sign out equipment before using it
-Students must have a Video Production pass if working on a video project in the halls
-Do not interrupt other classrooms while in the hallways. This will result in a WRITE UP & revocation of hallway privileges and all work will be done in class or at home.
-Students will remain seated or working until the bell rings. DO NOT line up at the door.
