Echoes of Silence
By: L. Neal
What is this even all for,
When we get out of school will we be the same person anymore,
Will we even be as tall as we are now,
When we get to high school will some of us
Get are final paper and take are final bow,
I wonder how many of us are going to get jobs,
Because some of the kids here are slobs, they don’t get taught at home,
And won’t leave the quiet kids alone,
They choose to bully, because they are empty,
School was supposed to help us,
But turned into something that made a lot of kids come home in a fuss,
Every time we try to tell them to stop,
They brush it off saying “ i’m just joking it’s a pun”
And then say they are done,
But that is a story, I don’t want to say lie because that’s the way I was taught,
And they shake their heads when they're caught,
I never understood bullying because why judge me,
If I don’t have straight hair like you,
Talk like you, walk like you , but even sound like you,
I’m tired of the school not doing anything,
To save somebody’s innocent name,
I fought to defend my brother name,
But they told me not to even bother,
So I wonder, in high school, will be the same,
So stop the empty jokes, stop the cruel game,
We are not all the same, so stop acts of shame.
I’ll keep my pride, you keep your hollow lie,
Until there’s no more reason for a kid to cry,
Hope high school is different, a place that is true,
Where being yourself is better than acting like you,
No more brushed-off jokes,
No more tears to hide,
Just a safe space to walk,
With nothing but pride.
THE BIGGEST SHOUTOUT TO YOU GIRL!! I LOVE YOU AND I AM ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU!
