About Mrs. Durbin's Math Class

Interactive Notebooks: Since the Math curriculum includes two workbooks (Volume 1: Units 1-4 and Volume 2: Units 5-7) we will be using an Interactive Notebook to keep track of notes and examples discussed in class. Students will be issued Volume 2 once Volume 1 Units have been completed. Workbooks will NOT be able to be kept at home; workbooks should be in class daily. (The exception is when we move on to Volume 2, students will no longer need to bring Volume 1 workbook to school, but must keep it to review leading up to LEAP)
Interested in your child's progress? Check PowerSchool regularly to keep up with their grades. I usually have graded assignments posted within a few days of them being collected. If you see a "0" as a grade, it is probably because your child did not turn in an assignment. Most assignments will be accepted late, however points will be deducted for each day that the assignment is late. Work should be submitted in a timely fashion so that I can assess their knowledge BEFORE a test or quiz is given so I can provide them with additional practice/assistance so they can be successful on tests and quizzes.
Want to sign up for Remind? Check out the tab on the left for instructions. Remind messages are usually about upcoming tests/quizzes or due dates for assignments. I try to post a picture of what is written on the board daily. If in the event a picture hasn't been posted, you can check what has been assigned as "Check Your Understanding" by clicking the "Homework & Events" tab on the left.
Want to help? If you are curious about addtional supplies that may be needed for class or would like to donate items we will need to replenish what we use for Interactive Notebooks (We go through glue sticks and colored paper like crazy!) or items that may be useful in class. There is a tab to my website with those items. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Your child may earn bonus points for bringing in some of these items.
