Welcome to Fifth Grade!

I am extremely excited to be back in the classroom again!

I grew up on Long Island and had an amazing childhood.  The diversity that is in the area has helped shape me into who I am today.  I lived in the same house my entire life until I went off to college...does that happen much anymore?  My college days were spent at Keene State College in Keene, NH.  Some of you might remember the movie Jumanji.  Well, part of that movie was filmed there during my time there.  They filmed in the center of town where the elephants run through and stomp on a car with the little boy in it (Don't worry, the boy was not hurt.).  That is my only "claim to fame"!

My husband, Jeff, and I met when we were in high school.  He is a true southern man and I am a total Yankee!  How did we meet, you ask?  Well, we both attended a Presbyterian youth conference in Montreat, NC when we were in high school.  We kept in touch for a few years after the camp through hand written letters which I still have.  My parents then bought a condo on the coast of NC and Jeff and I were finally able to see each other again.  A year after that reunion, we began to date since I was then living at the condo for the summer and he was Marietta.  In 1995, after I graduated college, I moved south to be with him and have been here ever since.  He is an architect in Atlanta.

This is my 16th year of teaching elementary school.  My teaching career started as a Pre-K teacher way back in 1995. From there, I accepted a position as an SIA teacher and then a 3rd grade teacher at Emerson Elementary School in Bartow County.  I was then transferred to Taylorsville Elementary in Bartow County where I taught fourth grade for the next 6 years.

My husband and I decided that it would be best for me to stay home and raise our kids.  I have enjoyed every minute of the 9 years at home with my kids...well, most of that time=)  Speaking of my kids, Cooper is my oldest and is one great kid!  He is in 11th grade and anticpating all of the adventures that brings.  Cooper loves to play soccer and excels as a goalie.  Ella is my youngest and my silly and energetic girl.  She will be in 9th grade this year and is growing up way too fast!  Ella is a die-hard lacrosse player who loves every minute on the field!

As you can see from the picture above, we love the outdoors.  Our favorite mini vacations are spent camping at various state parks.
