OVERALL INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS:
This yearbook course has been designed to provide students with the journalism skills and the ability to apply those skills to the actual production of the yearbook.  This publications class will strive to maintain a tradition of excellence in which the school and the community can take pride.

 CLASS OBJECTIVES:

 

  *Students will define the role of a yearbook in the school environment. 

  *Students will understand, practice, and learn skills for: 

  • effective leadership at all levels of an organization.
  • applying ethical and legal considerations to planning, storytelling, and production.
  • generating ideas.
  • developing content with verbal and visual elements.
  • planning and placing content in the yearbook.
  • developing the unifying idea for the yearbook.
  • reporting and writing stories, headlines, and captions for photographs.
  • improving writing.
  • planning, shooting, and editing photographs.
  • basic skills for designing yearbook pages and spreads principles of good design.

 Live Oak High School uses Power School for online grades.  At least two grades will be entered per week and at least two grades per category (with the exception of the End of Semester Assessment) will be entered every 4 ½ weeks (each interim).

EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENTS:

 

       As a high school student, mature and respectful behavior is expected.

       Complete assigned classroom tasks and follow directions.

       Come prepared to class every day (this includes being properly dressed).

       Speak considerately and positively (use words “please” and “thank you”).

       Respect school property; please pick up after yourself.

 

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:

 

      We come into class using our inside voice and immediately begin bell-ringer activity.

      We listen when others are speaking; do not interrupt or disrespect others’ opinions.

      We follow directions quickly and think before we speak (check with a partner before asking me).

      We remain seated until the tardy bell rings.

      We do NOT use cell phones or eat/drink in class.

      Restroom Policy:  ONLY with the vest! 

 

 

 

List of Yearbook Staff Responsibilities:

 

Fundraisers:  The Drop '19 & The Drop Cont. 

 

***Yearbook staff will be responsible to report to BOTH of these fundraisers.  You will be responsible to help with the planning, set-up, and clean-up. You will receive class credit towards the events you help prepare and attend.  You will earn bonus and incentives for helping with more than you are asked.***

 

Yearbook Assignments:  Planning yearbook ladder / Cover design / Photography/photo editing – must help attend after school activities to capture pictures / Specific yearbook spread(s) assigned to you / Encouraging ALL students to purchase 2019-2020 yearbook

 

Eagle Edition Newsletter:  You will be assigned journal topics throughout the year to submit to the Eagle Edition / The purpose of the newsletter is to recap the previous month and give insight to students for upcoming events.

 

Hallway pictures:  Keep our hallways updated / Try to include all students and support those who are active at LOHS

 

Help with Monday Morning Messages/Social Media: Update calendar events / Keep the community in the know!
