Welcome to Minnie Ruffin Elementary
Hello! My name is Mrs. Julia Jason and I will be your child's Math teacher this year. I hope you are ready for a busy and exciting year of learning!
Our new normal may have some of our students on campus or in a virtual learning environment. Although this is unusual start to the 2020/2021 school year, each student will still receive the same quality instruction regardless of where their learning may take place. Please know that we have and will continue to focus on:
- safety for all of our children
- good communication between teachers and parents
Each week we will study Louisiana Common Core Math Skills using Eureka Math! The Eureka Math curriculum focuses on operations and algebraic thinking, numbers and operations in base 10, measurements, data and geometry. Weekly computer based assessment will be given. The nine weeks grades will be based on Eureka Math weekly assessments assigned in Edulastic.
Every student will receive or have access to the "Week at a Glance and Math News” on Monday in our Google classroom. The “Week at a Glance” will include weekly Reading vocabulary words, spelling list, Math, Social Studies, Science objectives and Math News. Math News is a brief description created to give parents and students a better understanding of the concepts found in Eureka Math. PLEASE keep all study guides/lists in a binder.
Homework will be given Monday through Thursday in Math. Each student will have a problem set (which is done as a whole group in class), exit ticket, sprint (occasionally) and homework pages.
