Reader's Workshop is an exciting time of day. Third Graders do a LOT of reading!! Students will need a "just right" book of their choice at all times. Please be sure that your child is prepared with reading material daily. Third Graders will write about their reading in a Reader's Notebook. We will utilize various reading strategies, such as making connections, questioning, inferring, determining importance, visualizing, synthesizing and checking for meaning. Our Reading Units of Study are as follows:
- Launching Reader's Notebooks & Developing Reading Routines
- Understanding of Characters in Literature
- Researching Nonfiction
- Folktales, Fairytales & Myths
- Mystery Book Clubs
- Poetry
- Researching Ecosystems
- Biographies
