Objectives:

 

This class focuses on the study of people and nations that have shaped world events. Over the course of the school year, students will be examining events from the last 700 years, beginning with the Renaissance and culminate with current events.  By studying the past, students will gain an understanding of people and events that have shaped the world we live in today.

 

Course Requirements: You are responsible for the following:

 

  1. You must come to class prepared, i.e. notebooks, texts, supplemental reading, pens and folders. I recommend a 3-subject notebook!

 

 

 

  1. You must complete all homework, reading and writing assignments.

 

 

 

  1. You must come see me to receive any missed assignments, tests, and/or projects. (If you are participating in a school activity, you are always responsible for any missed work.)

 

 

 

  1. You must keep all papers, i.e., tests, quizzes, homework, and essays in a folder throughout the year.

 

Grading System: *A standard grading policy has been established by the Hillside School District.

 

Tests/Projects = 50%

 

Quizzes = 25%

 

Homework = 15%

 

Class Participation/Behavior = 10%

 

Classroom Rules:

 

  1. Please be on time! If you are late, you must have a late pass.
  2. Be respectful! This includes no cursing during class or being disruptive! Remember, you are all young ladies and gentlemen!
  3. CELL PHONES! I understand that you have them and they are important to you.  However, this is a school-wide rule, please keep them in your bag or pocket on vibrate. Do not leave them on your desk!
  4. Headphones! Absolutely Not!
  5. Let’s have a great class!
