In Literacy Lab 9, we will be looking at building fundamental skills that will enable our students to be successful in all of their classes.  Over the first few weeks of school, we will be looking at what constitues plagiarism and how to avoid it.  In addition, we will learn how to use MLA format and various study skills, which can be practiced in all of their academic courses.

We are also continuing with grammar skills.  The students will be working independently and in small groups learning the various aspects of grammar that they are having trouble with.  Each student may be working on a different part of speech or type of punctuation or phrase type during any given class period.  This is to try to motivate the students to work towards mastering the skills in which they may need improvement.

Over the next week, you will be receiving an e-mail from Google Classroom.  Google Classroom is the website we use to assign work so that the students can have more experience using technology in our 21st century society.  The e-mail is inviting you to receive notifications of the work your child has been completing.  I would appreciate if you would sign up for these notifications, but it is not mandatory.  I would like to thank you for your future support over the next few months.
