Behavior Expectations

Fifth grade is a year full of transtions. One major transition is that the students are ending their last year as elementary school students, preparing to embark on their middle school journey. With that being said, the students have certain behavior expectations, that if they struggle to follow, will result in consequences.

Expectations:

*Complete all assignments (including homework) on time, neatly, and in their entirety.

*Treat teachers, staff members, administrators, peers, and self with respect.

*Follow classroom and school rules.

Consequences:

*Incomplete assignments must be completed for homework.

*Messy assignments will need to be redone.

*Missing homework assignments will result in recess detention.

*Disrespect/not following rules will be monitored using the bubble system. Instead of calling students out or stopping a lesson to redirect behavior, I will put a check mark on the "bubble" on the student's desk as a nonverbal approach to redirecting behavior. The meanings of the bubbles are as follows:

*One bubble "pop" is a warning

*Two bubble "pops" will result in 5 minutes loss of recess

*Three bubble "pops" will result in an email/phone call home, a meeting with the principal, and a lunch detention

**If this becomes a habit, we will hold a meeting and discuss a plan to resolve the situation.
