Using the MLA Format

1.  Websites-

 

(Note: If a website does NOT have an author, editor, or name of an organization, then leave it out.)

 

Author’s Last Name, First Name.  “Title of Article or specific webpage”.  Title of overall website.      

    Publisher’s Name or Sponsor’s Name (if not available use N.p.), Day Month Year the website

    was updated or published.  (use n.d. if not available) Web. Day Month Year accessed.  web

    address.

 

Example:

“Latitude and Longitude”. WorldAtlas.com. N.p. N.d. Web. 27 November 2013.

    http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/findlatlong.htm.

 

2. Books (print)

 

Author, last name first.  Title of Book. (italicized)City of Publication: Publisher’s Name, Year of

    Publication. Print.

 

Example:

Collins, Suzanne.  The Hunger Games. New York: Scholastic Inc., 2008. Print.

** Remember that the first line of the citation is NOT indented; all other lines are indented.

** Make a note of punctuation marks (periods, commas, quotation marks) as well as italics.  These are necessary parts of the citation.

 

** Works Cited is CENTERED at the top of the page.

 

** DOUBLE-SPACE the entire page.

 

**Use Font Times New Roman; Size 12; 1” margin

 

** List citation in ALPHABETICAL ORDER

 

** If there are 2 or 3 authors or editors, type all of the names. Type the first author (last name first).  The others will be typed first name first--- in the order they appear.

** If you use several web pages from the same website, write ONE citation for the website.
