I grew up in a small town in Northern Indiana called Bourbon. I participated in 4-H for 10 years with swine, rabbits, and dairy steers. I was active in the community with various organizations such as Bourbon Fire Department, Key Club and Bettering Every Aspect of Marshall County. I graduated as Triton High School’s Valedictorian in 2009 and began studying chemical engineering at Purdue University.

After a year, I decided that I’d rather work with people and share my love of learning. I graduated from Purdue University in May of 2013 with an Elementary Education degree, Global Studies minor, concentration in reading, and a high ability certification in progress. I have multiple hobbies such as swimming, tennis, golf, and scrapbooking. I miss sledding down the hills of my family's farm, but not the ice and snow covered roads throughout Indiana. However, I look forward to visiting home this winter break. I have lived in Florida over a year and absolutely love the area! I've noticed I tend to have more friends visit me now that I live in such a great location! I enjoy taking my Australian Shepherd, Brizzy, to the beach and trails of Lover's Key State Park.

I have had multiple opportunities to watch experienced teachers conduct their classes and as a result I have seen various management strategies. I am very eager to begin teaching on a daily basis, catering to your student’s individual learning style, and watching your students grow before my eyes. I feel that it is important to use multiple learning modalities to actively engage students in each lesson. I plan to use the technology available within the classroom in meaningful ways to further the student’s understanding of concepts presented within my lessons. I hope to integrate subjects such as science, social studies, and health into my literacy lessons to build content knowledge and reveal real life connections between subjects.
