AP Calculus AB (2026–2027)

Classroom Expectations, Homework, Assignments, and Study Guidelines

Classroom Expectations

  • Arrive to class on time and be prepared with your textbook, notebook, calculator, and writing materials.
  • Be respectful to your classmates and teacher at all times.
  • Participate actively in discussions, problem-solving activities, and group work.
  • Cell phones and other electronic devices must remain away unless authorized for instructional purposes.
  • Follow all school and classroom policies.
  • Academic honesty is expected. Cheating, plagiarism, or using unauthorized AI or online resources on assignments or assessments is prohibited.

Homework Policy

  • Homework is assigned regularly to reinforce concepts taught in class.
  • Homework must be completed neatly and show all mathematical work.
  • Late homework will receive reduced credit according to the class late-work policy.
  • Assignments more than one day late may not be accepted unless prior arrangements have been made.
  • Students are encouraged to ask questions before the due date if they need assistance.

Assignments

  • Assignments may include:
    • Daily practice problems
    • AP Classroom assignments
    • Quizzes
    • Unit tests
    • Projects and investigations
    • FRQ (Free Response Question) practice
    • MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) practice
  • All assignments should reflect the student's own work.
  • Technology may be used only when permitted by the instructor.

Study Expectations

Students should expect to spend 45–60 minutes studying outside of class each day.

Effective study habits include:

  • Review class notes daily.
  • Complete all assigned practice problems.
  • Memorize important derivative and integral formulas.
  • Practice AP-style multiple-choice and free-response questions weekly.
  • Correct mistakes from quizzes and tests.
  • Attend tutoring or seek extra help whenever needed.
  • Prepare for cumulative exams by reviewing previous units regularly.

Calculator Policy

  • A graphing calculator (TI-84 Plus CE or equivalent) is required.
  • Students must know when calculator use is permitted and when it is not.
  • Students are responsible for bringing a charged calculator to class.

Attendance

  • Regular attendance is essential for success in AP Calculus.
  • Students are responsible for obtaining missed notes and assignments after any absence.
  • Makeup work must be completed according to school policy.
