Balsa Wood Bridges

 

 

Project Description

 

Students design and construct bridges, which are tested for structural strength. Using books, videos, and the Internet, students research basic bridge designs. After choosing a design, they create blueprints, which will then be used to construct a 3-D version of their project. Once construction is completed, weights are used to test the strength and endurance of their design. The students’ bridges have been able to hold over fifty pounds.
