Fifth Grade 2025-2026
Room 267
When I was a little girl, my favorite year in elementary school was the year I was in fifth grade. I had a marvelous teacher named Mr. Dooros and he made everyone feel like they mattered and what they had to say was important. He wore a suit every day and changed his fancy dress shoes when it was time for recess and he played kickball with us. We had spelling bees and he took us on nature walks behind our school. I learned how to write well that year, and I learned all about fractions and decimals and what the Pilgrims really had for Thanksgiving dinner! I still remember the friends I made that year, the field day we had (I won the hula hoop contest), and the feeling I had walking home from school with my sister and my best friend each day. I remember kicking the piles of fall leaves as the days got shorter, jumping in the snow on the side of the road when the January storms hit, and finally breathing in the wonderful smell of the the fresh green leaves and baby grass as the spring peeked back out again and got us excited for summer. It was a magical year. I hope one day you will look back at this 5th grade year we will share together and have nothing but great memories, just like I do of mine!
All About Ms. Phillips
I think that parents know their child the best, and I always look forward to a great partnership with the families of my students. It is an honor to be able to help my students learn and grow during our time together.
I love being a teacher, and am starting my 24th year teaching at Emma Havens Young School this Fall. I have taught at EHYS so long that some of my students from a long time ago have children that are now students at EHYS!!!!
I love being a Mom, and I have 4 amazing kids-2 girls and 2 boys (all teenagers) and they make me laugh all the time. And they make me crazy too!
I love to swim, go to the beach, listen to music,
and play games and cards.
I have a great dog named Indiana and 7 pet chickens. Their names are: Tiny, Tillie, Willie, Honey, Daisy, Cookie and Milk.
My favorite drink is an iced green tea from Dunkin Donuts.
I think every day is a blessing and I hope I can help make your fifth grade year the best ever!
