Welcome to English III College Prep

Welcome to English III College Prep! Our class is a survey of American Literature in which students are exposed to works of various genres from throughout the history of the United States.  In addition to curriculum reading, students will complete a variety of writing assignments to improve their writing skills as well as present information individually and in a group.

Concurrently, students will work with vocabulary acquisition and techniques to improve reading comprehension.

Words of the Week (words from literature)--Students receive them on MONDAY and have a quiz on them on FRIDAY.  Students will work through 15 units.

SSR--Sustained Silent Reading (Choice Reading)--Students will be read books of their choosing throughout the semester.  Students have received information on how SSR is graded (counts as a summative grade).

Current Events--Students are responsible for presenting one current event a week for 8 weeks each quarter.  The details for this assignment are posted in GC.

In addition to all of that, as your navigate your way through junior year, continuing to lay the path for your post-graduation goals, I am here to help!  As young adults, I expect you to reach out whenever you foresee a problem.

You can always speak to me before or after class, send an email to [email protected], or message me via Google Classroom.

As per district policy, all students must present a note from a parent or doctor for all absences in order for their missing work to be graded.
