Participation and effort play an important role in final grades. Most of your grade consists of superb class conduct, volunteering and raising your hand in class, and having a positive attitude! It is important to observe and join in classroom activities. Participation is how students are introduced to musical concepts.

 

Assignments are given weekly and are to be completed at the end of class. Unfinished work is expected to be completed by the following visit. Assignments are ways for a student to practice and study a musical concept. 

 

Test and projects occur about every four class sessions. Often projects are small assignments that are worked on throughout the month. Projects include writing a song, composing a song for an instrument and performing an original composition. Tests and projects showcase the student's knowledge of musical concepts.
