Preschool Curriculum

 

Our district implements The Creative Curriculum in Preschool.  The Creative Curriculum encourages your child to explore his/her surroundings in a positive environment and learn through play.  In addition, it fosters independence and teaches your child to become an active learner.  It is a developmentally appropriate curriculum that nurtures Social/Emotional, Language, Physical and Cognitive skills.

 

Components of The Creative Curriculum:

  1. Literacy- Vocabulary and Language; Phonological Awareness; Knowledge of Print; Letters and Words; Comprehension; Understanding Books and Other Texts; Literacy as a Source of Enjoyment

     

  2. Mathematics- Number Concepts; Patterns and Relationships; Geometry and Spatial Awareness; Measurement; Data Collection, Organization, and Representation

     

  3. Science- Physical Science; Life Science; Earth and the Environment

     

  4. Social Studies- Spaces and Geography; People and How They Live; People and the Environment; People and the Past

     

  5. The Arts- Dance; Music; Dramatic Play; Visual Arts

     

  6. Technology- Awareness of Technology; Basic Operations and Concepts; Technology Tools; People and Technology

     

  7. Process Skills- Observing and Exploring; Connecting; Problem Solving; Organizing Information; Communicating and Representing Information
