Week of December 1^st: test Friday, Dec 8th

Phonics Skill – Short & Long Vowels

 This week students will have review words to prepare for our Unit 2 Benchmark Assessment. The challenge will be to know all 15 words (study words highlighted).

Directions: your child will learn how to spell the words highlighted using the phonics principle. For the target vocabulary words the students will need to read, know the definition, and how to use the word in a sentence. Your child will need to read the high frequency words (they should practice the spelling also, but for the assessment they need to the read words only).                 

***Please read every night with your child for 15 minutes. This helps build fluency.***

  Homework Activities:                  

Monday	Pick 8 words and write sentences for each word. Circle the words used in your sentences. Remember to use a capital letter in the beginning of your sentences and a punctuation mark at the end (done in your notebook)
Tuesday	Complete a crossword puzzle using your vocabulary words.
Wednesday	Write your words in ABC order (done in your notebook)
Thursday	Study for test tomorrow
