          - West Deptford School District celebrates   WELLNESS WEEK

Green-Fields Elementary School will be celebrating health and wellness February 12th through March 16th .  Healthy habits instilled in childhood promote a healthy way of living for a lifetime.  Green-Fields will be promoting  healthy living by:

Monday-Friday – daily “healthy living” tips during morning announcements

Wednesday, February 14th - Wear Red Day – have your child dress in red.

Mr. Harvey will begin the Kids Heart Challenge in February.

This event will take place during your child’s regularly scheduled Phys Ed class and helps students to learn how to improve their own health by doing heart health physical activity through service learning for the American Heart Association.

The PreK will be taught a dental lesson by Tiny Tooth Co., and  our 3rd and 4th grade students will be taught by Rutgers Nursing Students.

Here are some other ideas/activities your child can do during wellness week (and all year!):

  • Choose healthy foods for meals
  • Pack healthy foods for snacks like fruits or veggies
  • Participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day
  • Limit screen time (TV, tablet, phone, video games)
  • Get plenty of rest each night
  • Choose water instead of sugary drinks
  • Wash hands before eating, brushing teeth, etc. to prevent illness
