Student Selection for Basic Skills

 

• DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills)
  

 

      This is an assessment tool that is used three times a year which helps to identify "at risk" students and monitor their progress.

 

               Components:

 

               Letter Naming Fluency

 

               Phoneme Segmentation (pulling out sounds that you hear in a word)

 

               Nonsense Word Fluency (sounding out "pretend" words)

 

               Oral Reading Fluency (middle of first grade through third grade)
