IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Students should arrive by 8am. You will walk your child to the classroom, and they will hang up their backpacks and jackets in the cubby labeled with their names. (In ABC order) Please put their lunch in the top part of cubby and their green take home folder in the bottom. Please empty their folder every night. Their snack will go in the bin on top of cubbies.
Please send in the following items labeled with your child's name for the first week of school:
- Backpack
- Art Smock or larger t-shirt (labeled with name)
- Change of clothes labeled in a gallon size Ziploc bag (play clothes are fine - cross seasonal clothes work best - please include a change of socks as well)
- Box of tissues, paper towels, and baby wipes
- Disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer are always accepted and greatly appreciated anytime throughout the year
- Please have children dressed appropriately to go outside everyday unless it is too cold or raining. Have them in clothes that are easy to get on and off and they should have closed toe shoes on.
Lunch/Recess is from 10:30-11:30 on regular school days. If you would like to order lunch for your child, please do so on the school website. We are a cashless cafeteria. If you don’t already have a school account, you will need to set one up. We have snack every morning in our classroom. Please pack a healthy snack and water and pack it separately from their lunch. We are a peanut/nut free classroom, so please do not send in any food containing these allergens. If any student has an allergy or health concern, please let us know.
*No snack on 1/2 days* -Dismissal for early days are 12 noon.
- Show & Tell - Each student will be assigned a Show and Tell day. Please see website for your child’s day. If they forget their show and tell they can bring it in on the following school day. Please encourage your child to bring a school appropriate item that fits in his/her backpack, and they are able to talk about it. Only 1 show and tell item so we can get to everyone and NO weapons.
- All specials are posted on the website. Each trimester I will post any schedule changes on my website.
- Birthdays: Celebrated in class with peers! The birthday child is allowed to bring in their favorite birthday treat. Please keep in mind how messy the treat may be and if we have any allergies. They are also allowed but not necessary to give out a goodie bag if they choose. If you would like me to distribute invitations, all class members must be included.
- Trips – We go on about 4 trips during the year. A walking trip to the Firehouse, Pumpkin Picking – you will meet us there. Walking trip to Ralph’s Ices & our end of year Holmdel Park Picnic
- Holiday celebrations: We have parties for most if not all holidays. I will have a sign-up sheet outside my door for party food. You may but not necessary give out goodie bags for a holiday.
- Please check folders daily and return them to school the following day. Make sure papers are taken out before returning to school. It helps if students have a regular size backpack to fit their folder and projects that we send home.
- Please check our school website daily. The administration often posts important notices on the home page. Also, be sure to check our class website for important information.
- We will work on a Letter of the Week where we do age-appropriate activities to reinforce letter recognition, formation and phonics. These skills all take time, we are working on a foundation and don’t expect the children to master these concepts.
- We will incorporate activities and projects that are age-appropriate relating to Language Arts, Math, Science, Art and Religion.
- Pictures - The school will send home a media release form for their use with social media, marketing and other uses.
- I will have a photo form as well. My form is just for photos to be shared with the class. I do not post on social media or any other outlet.
- Extended Care is available for Preschool students from 1:10 - 2:30 pm.
- A separate snack and drink must be provided and should be labeled for Extended Care.
- It’s a period for the children to have a snack and get some additional rest time as it is a long day for 4-year-olds.
- Extended Care information forms are in this packet. This year we will not offer a drop-in service. You must sign up ahead of time.
A PowerPoint with everything you need to know is on my website. The tab is on the left-hand side.
