IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Arrival

Students should arrive by 8am. Doors open 7:55-8:05am. Any late arrivals will go to the front entrance and they will be walked down to their classroom.. You will walk your child to the classroom, and they will hang up their backpacks and jackets in the cubby labeled with their names. (In ABC order) I ask as the year progresses that you allow them to do this on their own. Our main goal is to teach them independence. Please put their lunch in the top part of their cubby and their take home folder in the bottom.  Please empty their folder every night. Their snack will go in the bin on top of cubbies. If you would like to drop off your son/daughter with a sibling you may do so at the front entrance no earlier than 7:20am.(You cannot walk them in) They will go down to the cafeteria and sit at a preschool table and will then be escorted to their classroom by one of the para’s.

Dismissal

Dismissal will be in the cafeteria at 2:30pm. Those wishing to pick up in the classroom(ex. If there is no sibling in school), you may do so at 2:15pm. The preschool doors will open promptly at 2:15pm and close at 2:20pm

PM CARE - Is offered everyday from 2:30-5:40pm. If your child stays for PM CARE please send in a separate snack labeled with PM CARE. Pre-registration is required and forms are available on our website.

Please send in the following items labeled with your child's name for the first week of school

  •    Backpack

  •    Art Smock or larger t-shirt (labeled with name in a zip lock bag)

  •    Change of clothes labeled in a gallon size Ziploc bag (play clothes are fine -        cross seasonal clothes work best - please include a change of socks as well)

  •   Box of tissues, paper towels, disinfecting wipes(to clean with) and baby wipes are always accepted and appreciated anytime throughout the school year.

  • Extra sweatshirt or sweater labeled - the temperature in our room constantly fluctuates.  These items will stay in their cubby

Bathroom – Students need to be able to use the bathroom independently. This means wiping themselves and pulling up or down their pants. Easy access clothes are best and shows their independence keeping them confident and not afraid to use the bathroom.

Recess/lunch is usually from 10:10 -11:10 on regular school days.(lunch time may differ depending on our day's schedule) If you would like to order lunch for your child, please do so on the school website. We are a cashless cafeteria. If you don’t already have a school account, you will need to set one up. We have snack every morning in our classroom. Please pack a healthy, dry snack and water and pack it separately from their lunch. We are a peanut/nut free classroom, so please do not send in any food containing these allergens. If any student has an allergy or health concern, please let us know. We will most likely have snack in the classroom in the afternoon. A simple snack with water only would be best.

Please have children dressed appropriately to go outside everyday unless it is too cold or raining.  Have them in clothes that are easy to get on and off and they should have closed toe shoes on. Please NO CROCS or SANDALS. We will have a 2nd recess in the afternoon weather & schedule permitted - It is a long day for the children and they need to get up and move around.

*No snack on 1/2 days* -Dismissal for 1/2 days is 12:30 pm.

We will have a rest time every afternoon for about 20 minutes except for ½ days.

  • Show & Tell - Each student will be assigned a Show and Tell day. This will be their day each week. If they have a show& tell in their backpacks and it is not their day, I will explain to them that they must wait for their assigned day. Please see the website for your child’s day. If they forget their show and tell, they can bring it in on the following school day. Please encourage your child to bring a school appropriate item that fits in his/her backpack, and they can talk about it. Only 1 show and tell item so we can get to everyone and NO weapons.

  • Specials are posted on the website. Each trimester I will post any schedule changes on my website. We will have library, music, sign language, spanish and gym(Make sure the students are in some type of gym clothes and sneakers on gym days)

  • Birthdays: Celebrated in class with peers! The birthday child is allowed to bring in their favorite birthday treat.  Please keep in mind how messy the treat may be and if we have any allergies. If you would like me to distribute invitations, all class members must be included.

  • Trips – We go on about 4 trips during the year.  Pumpkin Picking – you will meet us there, gymnastics, a trip to a farm & our end of year Holmdel Park Picnic. Please note that these trips may change year to year.

  • Holiday celebrations: We have parties for most if not all holidays.  I will have a sign-up sheet outside my door for party food.

  • Please check folders daily and return them to school the following day. Make sure papers are taken out before returning to school. It helps if students have a regular size backpack to fit their folder and projects that we send home.

Class Parents - We will select 2 class parents for our class. Please sign up if you are interested.  You must be fingerprinted and virtus trained. Class parents will assist in organizing small class celebrations; a liaison between parents and teacher may have to collect money or send emails for important school donations. Please note that class parents do not attend class parties. I may also call you to volunteer for the day if either myself or Mrs. Sprake are absent.

  • Please check our school website daily. The administration often posts important notices on the home page. Also, be sure to check our class website for important information.

•      We will work on a Letter of the Week where we do age-appropriate activities to reinforce letter recognition, formation and phonics.  We will NOT be learning the letters in order. These skills all take time; we are working on a foundation and don’t expect the children to master these concepts. Please remember all these skills will be introduced again in detail in kindergarten.

•       We will incorporate activities and projects that are age-appropriate relating to Language Arts, Math, Science, Art and Religion

Pictures - The school will send home a media release form for their use with social media, marketing and other uses.

•       I will have a photo form as well.  My form is just for photos to be shared with the class.  I do not post on social media or any other outlet.

Absence - If your child is not feeling well please keep them home. Germs spread very quickly in preschool. They touch everything. If you are leaving your child home please call the office and email me at [email protected] to let me know before 8:00am

GOOGLE CLASSROOM – We will be incorporating Google Classroom this year. This replaces TEAMS. Please scan the QR code(Paper is in packet) to join our Google Classroom. I will post information and reminders here. Once I post something, I believe you will get a notification.

As always if you have any questions or concerns you can email me or ask at drop off. I will also post important information on the board outside my classroom.
