* With all this unpredictable weather we have been having, please remember that if your son/daughter wears snow or rain boots to school they need to have shoes to change into. In addition we have gym on Mondays, please wear sneakers to school*

***PLEASE NOTE***

If your child stays for extended care he/she must have a separate DISPOSABLE snack and water bottle in a brown paper bag labeled with their name on it.  If your child does not stay regularly please send a note in the morning letting me know they will be staying that day.

March begins our Read Across America Challenge!  The children are challenged with reading every day during the month of March.  Each night they will color in their book worm (sent home in your child's folder) at the end of the month we will have an ice cream party to celebrate their hard work! Please send the icecream permission slip back to school as soon as possible.

We are in a new month, March. The boys and girls will learn that March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.  Let’s hope for more lamb days😊

This week we will begin to practice our "slant" letters.  We will learn the sound and how to write the letter "Mm". The boys & girls will learn to write the uppercase letter "M" using the pull down, slant right, slant up and pull up writing method.  For the lowercase "m" the boys & girls will learn the pull down, push up, curve forward, pull down, push up, curve forward writing method.

We will continue to focus on recognizing and writing their names. I encourage students to continue to practice at home. I will be sending home their names that are laminated so they can use dry erase markers to practice,  and if you have child safe scissors please practice using them. They can snip scrap paper, straws, playdough, etc. I always tell them thumbs must face the sky.

Communication is very important to your child's success. Please feel free to contact me at the above email at any time if you have any questions or concerns.  I will not be able to get back to you until the end of the school day, which is after 3pm.

LUNCH

Please send in a lunch that you child is able to finish on their own.  Be sure to send their lunch with two napkins; we use one for a placemat and one is to be used when they finish their lunch.

RECESS

We will go out for recess everyday unless it is too cold or raining. Please have your child dressed appropriately for the weather and always wear closed toe shoes.  If your children come to school with rain or snow boots, they need to have shoes to change into for the day.

We are looking forward to a great year!!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Borrino
