Algebra 2

 

Course Description:     We dive deeper into Algebra 1 skills, and prepare you for the WorkKeys Test 

                                 and the ACT.

Materials:          - a place to keep your notes (binder or a notebook)

 

                        - loose leaf paper (for handing in studentwork)

 

                        - writing utensils (preferably mechanical pencils)

 

                        - a compostition notebook (strictly for Bellwork)

 

                        - your school Chromebook (charged) and your personal headphones

 

                        - a calculator (you can check one out from the school)

 

                             These are the calculators that will be used in class.

Procedures: Daily:

 

                  - Put your cellphone in the hanger on the door when you walk in.

                  - Get all materials ready before tardy bell rings. (Make sure your Chromebook is

                    charged.)

                  - Be working on bellwork when class starts.

                  - Actively participate in lesson.

                  - When leaving the classroom, make sure your area is clean. (Don't forget your phone!)

                  - If you are absent, get the missed notes from a classmate.

                  - The door will be closed right after the tardy bell rings, so if you are tardy: you will get

                    a warning for the first, but will need to go to Coach Campbell's office from there on

                    out.

 

                 Bellwork:

 

                 - Copy the bellwork completely from the board, unless told otherwise.

                 - Copy the explantion and answer from the board if you were unable to produce

                   the correct work and answer.

                 - If you miss a bellwork, it is your responsiblity to get the missed work into your

                   notebook. (Keep your work in chronological order, with date, and one day per page.)

                 - Every 9 Weeks, your bellwork notebook will be graded along with a bellwork test.

        

                

                 Working at the Boards:

 

                 - We will try to work on the dry-erase boards as much as possible.

                 - You need to get to your groups board quickly and quitely.

                 - You need to be a good group member: participate, contribute, and complement.

                 - DO NOT sit while we are at the boards.

 

 

                 Student Work: 

 

                  - All assignments will be completed on loose leaf paper with your name, date, and

                    assignment name.  If any of these three are missing, the assignment will not be

                    graded.

                  - If you missed an assignment, it needs to be completed before the correlating test is

                    given.

                  - Assignments will be completed in groups, in class, and at home.

                  - It is your responsibility to check Google Classroom for daily assignments.

 

                 Tests/Quizzes:

 

                  - We will have 3-5 tests per 9 weeks.

                  - Quizzes will be given when needed.

                  - If you missed a test, it needs to be completed as soon as possible.  Your new test date

                    will be based on whether the absence is excused or not and the length of the absense.

                  - It is your responsibility to keep up with test dates.  They will be posted on my website,

                    on the Week-at-a-Glance boards, and on Google Classroom.

                  - If you cheat on a test, it is an automatic F.

                  

                 

                 Communication:

 

                  - I will only communicate with you and your parents/guardians through REMIND and

                    emails.  I will try to repsond in a timely manner.  So if you don't join REMIND and miss

                    a message, it is your fault.  If your parent needs to talk to me, they can send me a

                    REMIND and I can call them using REMIND.

 

                ACT:

 

                 - Every 9 Weeks, I will give you points for giving me your ACT scores that are released

                   during that grading period - e.g. if your scores are release during the 1st 9 Weeks,

                   then your points will be added to your 1st 9 Weeks grade.  The only exception is if

                   you took the ACT during the summer, then your points will be added to the 1st 9

                   Weeks.  

                - You will receive 50 points for taking the ACT.  If your ACT Math scores improved from

                  your highest score, then I will replace the 50 points with 100 points.  I will accept up

                  to two sets of scores in a 9 Weeks.

                - I will only accept copies printed from the official ACT site, with your name visible, and

                  the scores for that test visible.  I do not want Super Scores.

                - I will not accept screenshots sent on REMIND or through emails.

                - I will not accept anything from your parents, YOU need to hand me the physical copy of

                  YOUR scores.
