Once a week will be devoted to fitness improvement by doing a 12 minute run, mile run, pacer, push ups, sit ups, and Sit and Reach.  Students will continually focus on the components of fitness, which will include: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition. Students will also obtain skill development through various activities. This includes instruction of specific skills, practicing skills during drills, various games, and developing strategies on how to improve skills. The class activities should provide students with basic skills and knowledge that will help students improve their physical fitness and skill ability.

ATTIRE

Students will need a pair of tennis/athletic shoes that tie/velcro for P.E. class. All students will also need socks, gym shorts, and a T-shirt.  Shorts should not be rolled and long enough to comply with our PE policy. Sweatshirts and sweatpants are a good idea for when the weather gets cold. Stick deodorant is a recommendation. AEROSOL deodorants are not allowed in the locker room. If found, they will be confiscated and not returned.

MEDICAL ISSUES

Students are allowed a note from a parent excusing them for three (3) days of PE. If a student is out for an extended period of time a Dr's note must be given to the nurse and the student will report to the library.

LOCKERS AND VALUABLES

There is no food or drinks allowed in the locker room. Please make sure your son or daughter uses a lock for their locker.  We do not sell locks they must be purchased by parents. Students have 5 minutes to change before and after PE class.

DAILY PROCEDURES
When entering the locker room at the beginning of the period, students will go directly to a gym locker and change into their P.E. clothes. All students will proceed outside to the gym when directed by a teacher and sit in their floor spot for attendance. Failure to do so will result in a loss of points. Five minutes prior to the end of the period, students will return to the locker room to dress into their school clothes. When students are changed and ready you may depart when the teacher says it is ok.  The bell does not dismiss the students.

CLASS RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
Jewelry, gum, and food, will not be allowed in P.E. class for safety reasons and to keep the school grounds in good condition. Chewing gum or eating in or around the locker room will result in school detention.
