Course Overview:
Forensic Science is the application of science to civil and criminal laws. This course
deals with real life situations where science has been used to prove someone’s innocence or
guilt. This semester class brings together the disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
This class is only available to upperclassmen that have successfully completed Biology.
Units of Study:
Unit 1- Intro to Forensic Science
Unit 2- Forensic Entomology
Unit 3- Physical Evidence Analysis
Unit 4- Fingerprinting
Unit 5- Witness Testimony
Unit 6- Forensic Pathology
Unit 7- Forensic Anthropology
Unit 8- Blood Spatter Analysis

1½” or larger 3-ringed binder dedicated to our class
Loose leaf paper
Pen and pencil (multiple!)
Most of the information for this class will come from the teacher, therefore you are advised
to take good notes and keep an organized notebook.
Grading:
All graded assignments will be handed in and then returned to be stored in your notebook.
Under NO circumstances is credit given for assignments handed in after they have been
returned to the rest of the class.
(1) Labs - 30% of your grade
- Will be graded on completion and quality of the work.
(2) Tests/Quizzes - 40% of your grade
- Announced a minimum of 2 days in advance
(3) Homework & Classwork - 15% of your grade
(4) Participation - 15% of your grade - Based on your attitude, attention, and participation
during lab, lecture, and movies. As well as Question of the Day Sheets.
