Mathematics Highlights

We begin in third grade expanding on skills we learned in previous grades.  The biggest difference is that we start using larger numbers and use those previous taught skills and apply them to move problem solving activities.

The largest focus for third grade is to develop multiplication and division strategies.  We will begin working on these within the first few weeks and students will be responsible for those fact families each week with a weekly quick quiz.

By the end of third grade, some fractions are introduced to prepare students for fourth grade.  We will also explore multiplying greater numbers at the end of the year in preparation for the next year.
