U.S. History Grading Policies Once We Return to Campus:

1.       U.S. History is a required course that must be passed in order for you to graduate.

2.       Do not wait until the last grading period to earn the needed average, or you run the risk of failing the class.

3.       Work for each grading period may consist of class assignments, homework activities, special projects/written essays, participation grade, video            quizzes, section quizzes, vocabulary quizzes, chapter tests, LEAP practice tests, a midterm exam, and a final exam.  You may have quizzes on           the day's lesson or on the previous day’s lesson.

4.       It is the responsibility of each student to keep a record of his/her own grades.  Do not ask me to list your test grades for you.

5.       I do not give work for extra credit.  You are given the opportunity each grading period to score well on several quizzes, tests, and assignments.            If you find yourself short of your goal, do not expect me to bail you out.

                       St. Landry Parish grading scale:     93-100=A        85-92=B        75-84=C        67-74=D    Below 67=F

6.   Any student found copying another’s work will be given a grade of “0” for that assignment, quiz, or test.  Any student allowing another student to       copy his/her work will also receive the same grade.

7.   Periodically, chapter work, notes, etc., may be picked up and graded.  This is an easy way to bring up your average by simply doing the work       required of you.

8.   Class participation grade is 90 points per grading period.  You will start off with the full 90 points.  Points will be

deducted for any of the following reasons:      Not doing the required work or participating in class discussion / doing anything other than the       assigned work or activity

  • Not being prepared by not having needed materials. I expect you to bring pencils, pens, loose leaf paper, and your binder to class every day.

  • Talking without permission / disruption, as this means you are off task

  • Unexcused tardy (You cannot participate if you are not in class.)

  • Having your head on your desk or sleeping in class

9.   Reading or study material should be brought to class each day.  If you finish my assignments before the end of the period, you will be expected to       use any remaining time constructively.  You may read or complete work from other classes.  Doing anything else may affect your class       participation grade.

10.Tests may sometimes be on scantron.  This requires a pencil, so make sure that you bring pencils to class.  Tests will utilize LEAP 2025 format.
