Requirements:

1. All assigned readings should be completed prior to the beginning of the next class.  This way, you will be able to participate in the class discussion surrounding the contents of the reading.  You must bring your materials to class each day, they will be a valuable tools for you throughout the year. 
2. Throughout the year each student will be responsible for completing a variety of research projects, which will involve both group and individual “student-driven” research.  Always remember that when completing cooperative group work your team will depend upon your participation to be successful.
3. Several forms of assessments will be assigned throughout the year.  Some of the assessments to look forward to include speeches, tests, art projects, and essays.  The assessments are valuable because they allow you to exhibit your knowledge and understanding of the content explored in the class.
4. There will be several examinations, as well as periodic quizzes throughout the year.  All students will be given advanced notice of any upcoming exam.  Quizzes, however, may be unannounced.  Cheating will not be tolerated.  If detected, appropriate action will be taken.  I hope it will not be necessary…
5. Since we will be involved in many classroom activities, discussions, debates, and group projects throughout the year, I would strongly recommend that you make every effort to attend class.  Keep in mind that a large portion of your grade comes from class participation and class work.
