My name is Sherry Scott. I am currently the eighth grade math teacher and teach both the regular eighth grade maths and eighth grade algebra. This is my twenty fourth year as a math teacher. I started out teaching high school math in a very large district. I have been at Tighe School for eighteen years now. I absolutely love my job. I am a proud member of the excellent math department. I am also one of the co-advisors for Student Council along with Mrs. Carey. That job is much tougher than my teaching job. I am also the Math Competition Advisor which means that I help coach the MathCounts and Mathletes teams throughout the year.
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I started off with a love of math at a very young age frequently tutoring my friends in fractions starting in 4th grade. I graduated 5th in my class from Hammonton High School. I received my bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1993 from Rowan College of New Jersey and acquired my master’s degree in instructional technology in 2001 from Stockton State College. This master’s program allowed me to jump into the technology era. I also earned an additional thirty graduate credits from Chapman University in 2008 and 2009.
On a personal note, I have a much laid back, happy family life. I spend a lot of time with my immediate and extended families. I am forty-five years old and have been married to my high school sweetheart for twenty three years. My husband, Kevin, works at the FAA Technical Center. I am the mother of one pretty spectacular nineteen-year-old girl named Cassidy. She is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina and is majoring in business. My hobbies include traveling, watching sports, reading, solving puzzles, going to the beach, exercising, and just spending time with close friends and family.
