Homework Corner

Homework is an integral part of your child’s schooling. Completion of homework will be part of your child’s participation grade. Below please find procedures that are specific to our 3rd grade class.

  • Homework will be sent home each week-night (except Fridays) and is due back to school the following day, unless otherwise noted.
  • Your child will be responsible for copying his/her homework each day into an agenda.
  • Please use a pencil when completing homework.

MATH:  Students will have a math homework sheet to complete every week-night except Friday.

WORD STUDY:  Every Monday, a list of words will come home.  Students will be held accountable for spelling these words correctly in his/her writing in class. Please practice them nightly.  Every Friday a quiz on the words will be given. You will be notified when a quiz is coming up.  At times additional homework with the words will be given.

WRITING:  Writing homework will be periodically assigned. This could include grammar homework, conventions/mechanics practice, writing to a prompt, story writing, etc.

READING AND FACTS LOG:    Students will be expected to read for 15 minutes and practice their basic facts for 5 minutes each night for homework and record their work on the log provided. On the log, students are to record the date, the title of the book they read, and which facts they studied (addition, subtraction, multiplication or division). After completion of these activities a parent signature is required. These assignments are considered part of their daily homework, so the log must be filled out completely including a parent signature for the assignment to be complete.

Thank you in advance for helping your child become a responsible 3rd grade student!
