Course Objectives: US-1 History

 

This course will enable students to study early American history from 1500's to World War I. They will explore important events from colonization and settlement through the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, expansion and reform, the Civil War and Reconstruction and finally the Industrial Revolution and the emergence of modern America. Political, social, cultural, diplomatic, technological and military aspects of the United States history will be examined and connections to contemporary issues will be emphasized. Special focus will be given to the evolution and functioning of the American democratic system.

 

 

Student Expectations: Students are expected to come to class prepared with required materials and completed assignments.

Assignments will include reading, writing, critical thinking, current events, research, DBQ's and special projects.
