Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I hope you are as excited as I am to embark on the next stage of your educational Journey. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and welcome you into the 8th grade. My name is Ms. Corey and I am your 8th grade Math teacher. As your 8th grade math teacher, my goal is to provide each student with the necessary support, opportunities and guidance needed to achieve success beyond one’s own expectations. In my math class every student will learn the fundamentals of mathematics, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and growth mindset.

Most importantly, it is my mission to ensure each student also has a fun, creative, technological learning experience that they will never forget.

 

Class Expectations

 

Students are EXPECTED to...

  • Come to class on time every day

  • Come to class prepared every day (Textbook, Notebook, Pencil, folder & Chromebook)

  • Be an active member of the class (Participate!)

  • Complete class assignments in a timely manner

  • Complete the daily homework assignments

  • Work with and respect all members of the learning community

  • Turn in cellphone to Homeroom teacher daily

  •  adhere to the District Policies in the District Code of Conduct and Uniform policy. 

  • Try their BEST!

Grading Policy:

  • Tests …………….. 65%

*** Class participation will be graded based on the following,

Student is fully engaged in class activities or discussion

Student successfully completes assigned classwork

Student contributes to the overall class learning process.

Class participation will be monitoring daily for a accumulative weekly grade***

 

Grades:

Please check the district's parent portal frequently to view all grades. Each assignment, test, and quiz will be updated no later than 7 days after it was assigned.

 

 

Homework Policy:

Homework will be assigned each night. All work must be shown in order for students to receive full credit! Homework will be checked daily. Each student will begin the marking period with a grade of 100. Each missing homework assignment will result in a deduction of 5 points. No homework assignment will be accepted late, with the exception that the student was absent on the day the homework was assigned. If a student was absent on the day the homework was assigned, he/she will be given the same number of days absent to complete their missing work. All homework will be posted in class on the board , on Schoology and on Remind daily.
