Reading Skills- The following are skills that we will be working on for the year. They are important skills that will help make the students deeper thinkers.
Drawing Conclusions/Inference: Using clues in the story to come to your own conclusion about what's happening or why something happened.
Cause & Effect: The cause tells "why" something happened. The effect tells "what" happened.
Sequencing: Giving events in the order in which they happened in the story
Summarizing: Retelling the story or parts of the story. We need to make sure we only include the most important details and keep it short.
Main Idea: Looking for what the story or article is mainly talking about.
Prediction: Using the information to make an educated guess about what might happen.
Analyzing: Breaking down a concept or idea into parts and showing relationships among the parts.

Evaluating: Make informed judgements about the value of ideas or materials. Use standards and criteria to support opinions and views.

Synthesizing: Bringing together parts of knowledge to form a whole and build relationships for new situations.
