Hello everyone! This year in art, students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will be introduced to a variety of artists including Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O'Keefe and some contemporary artists like Jen Aranyi, Jen Stark, Heather Gallar and many more.

We will incorporate the Elements of Art - Line, Shape, Color, Space, Texture & Form. We'll delve into Color Theory using the color wheel as a reference as we explore Primary, Secondary, Intermediate and Analogous colors and learn how to mix & blend new colors. We'll see how artists use different color groups, styles & mediums to express feelings in their artwork.

In our elementary art program we will include different types of medium from crayon, color pencil, marker, oil pastel, painting and collage throughout the years. We'll experiment and learn to express ourselves through our artwork.

*If we will have art virtually through a Google Classroom Meet, it will be during your scheduled art time. In your Grade Level Google Classroom, you can also find videos of art lessons and helpful information about art projects. Google Classroom Codes for each grade level will be posted here on this page.

If we meet virtually, please make sure to sign in every week to your Google Classroom during your scheduled art time.

Hopefully we will be able to participate as we usually do twice a year, in a city wide art show at The Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts; once in March for Youth Art Month and again
to celebrate our Multicultural art.

Some themes this year may include Aboriginal paintings, African Safari Animals, Native American Totem Poles, Chinese Dragons and much more. Artwork from students in kindergarten through twelth grade is displayed. Three dimensional pieces as well as paintings, drawings, pen and ink and collage are on display.

I look forward to a fun, exciting and creative year together!
