Students will have a spelling test every Friday.

They will be given their words on Monday and are encouraged to study nightly at home.

Students are also expected to READ every night!

They have a reading log that they must have initialed.

We will have Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing Workshop during our Language Arts class.  Students are encouraged to become lifelong readers and writers, and will develop a passion and enthusiam for the subject matter as they learn the skills needed to become successful authors. Through a hands-on approach using mentor texts, the 5th graders will learn to read with their eyes wide open, and always discover new things while reading. I'm sure they will enjoy sharing their love for reading at home too!
