Welcome to First and Second Grade Math

In First Grade it is important that students begin to learn their basic Math facts.  In addition, we learn about fact families, place value, how to count money, tell time, measure, and skip count.  Please take every opportunity at home to practice counting change, looking at the clock, and using Flash Cards to practice basic addition and subtraction problems.

Count some money and look at a clock to tell time!  Life skills are important!

                                   IMPORTANT RULES

When adding, it is always easier to begin with the the bigger number and count on.

When subtracting, you must ALWAYS, ALWAYS begin with the bigger number.

Our district uses the Eureka Math program. It is a taught a little bit differently than what some of us may be used to, so feel free to ask questions if needed.
