Welcome to Think Day Training Squad!  THINK Day is an intellectual competition among students who represent their middle schools.  It is hosted by the Mainland Regional High School Academic Team.  The official name is Tournament of Heterogeneous Intellectual Niches of Knowledge.  Our training squad prepares for this competition as well as other competitions.  Scholars in grades 4 through 8 are allowed to participate in our training squad.  Over the past couple of years, we have had 4th grade participate in Noodlemania at Northfield Community School, and 6th through 8th grades compete at THINK Day and Holy Spirit’s Whiz Quiz.  This year, our program is growing in depth, and I’m very excited to share the news!  Grades 4 and 5 will still practice at 8:00 before school starting at the end of September.  6th through 8th grades now have the opportunity to attend Training Squad practices during Buccaneer Time after lunch! Scholars can choose to attend any or all days, depending on their other activities and the call of the sun.

Also new is a competition just for 5th and 6th graders.  We have been invited to participate in Egg Harbor City Community School’s Are You Smarter Than A Knight.

One of the objectives of the THINK Day competition is “to recognize intellectual excellence as a worthwhile pursuit.” I am thankful that Mr. Robbins arranged for the Think Day Training Squad to meet during Buccaneer time so that I can continue to pursue my goals for the Think Day program–to foster the joy of acquiring knowledge, and to instill a love of learning a multitude of facts just for the fun of it.  Building brain power is what makes everything worthwhile.  The competition is just the cherry on top.  Everyone is welcome to participate in our training as we play, research, create, and explore to absorb knowlege.  As we approach each competition, assessments will be administered to determine the members of the competition teams.  There are a maximum of 14 competitors for the THINK Day competition (date TBA); a maximum of 12 competitors for Whiz Quiz (date TBA); a maximum of 12 competitors for Are You Smarter Than A Knight (Saturday, March 8, 2025); and a maximum of 12 competitors for Noodlemania (Saturday, February 8, 2025).
