CHAPTER NOTES FORMAT

To be completed in the Writing Journal Notebook only!
For each Chapter Note you must include the following components (numbered):

 

1. Date of Chapter Note entry

 

2. Title of core novel and author (title inside quotation marks)

 

3. Chapter number and page numbers

 

4. Main characters featured in that particular chapter

 

5. Setting(s)

 

6. Chapter synopsis (1 paragraph; 6-8 complete sentences; double-spaced for peer editing; neat/legible)

 

7. Impressions (2-3 complete sentences expressing what you think about the events and characters in that particular chapter; double-spaced for peer editing; neat/legible)

 

8. Questions (ask 2 or more intelligent questions you might have for the author, a character, or even the reader; double-spaced for peer editing; neat/legible)

 

Each Chapter Note should take up no more than 2 lined pages! Components 1-5 must be in list form; 6-8 must consist of sentences.

VOCABULARY FORMAT


To be completed in the VOCABULARY section of the 5-subject notebook. Include a proper heading (title in quotes, author, page numbers, date). Each vocabulary word must contain the following 6 components (numbered!):

1. Word (spelled correctly!) and page number
2. Definition (from an actual bound dictionary; for multiple-definition words, only copy the definition that pertains precisely to the author's usage!)
3. Part of Speech
4. Synonym (no less than 2)
5. Antonym (no less than 2)
6. Original Sentence (in your own words; must be complete and demonstrate comprehension and mastery!)
